On the morning of October 26, a delegation from Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, comprising representatives from various universities, visited Hefei University (HFU). President Wu Chunmei and Vice-Chair of HFU Council, Liu Jianzhong, warmly welcomed the delegation.

President Wu Chunmei briefly introduced Hefei City and HFU. She stated, HFU has a solid foundation for cooperation with universities in Nizhny Novgorod, and the delegation’s visit marks a significant breakthrough in educational cooperation and exchanges. Sdobnyakov Victor, President of Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University, expressed his hopes for establishing friendly cooperative relations between the two sides and exploring opportunities for the development of higher education.

At the meeting, representatives from Nizhny Novgorod State University, State Language University and State Pedagogical University expressed their willingness to deepen collaboration within the framework of Sino-Russian “Yangtze River-Volga River” regional cooperation mechanism. Liu Jianzhong highlighted, HFU’s extensive experience in international cooperation, combined with the educational resources of the Russian universities, provides ample space for fruitful collaboration, and such cooperation is expected to contribute to HFU’s international development and China’s Belt and Road initiative.

In 2016, HFU signed a friendly cooperation agreement with Nizhny Novgorod State University and National Architectural University, fostering exchanges and visits of teachers and students. In 2019, Nizhny Novgorod and Hefei became friendly and cooperative cities. The cooperation between HFU and Russian universities is poised to make further progress within the framework of the sister city cooperation.
